HPC Architect - PS 

Job Description   

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

- This person must be able (and has the relevant experience and credibility to back it up) to deliver complex HPC projects across customer organizations and across partners. This person must be able to co-develop and take input from others on the vision of various HPC solutions and help establish the customer roadmap, architecture, and implementation plan. 

- Able to take roadmap and project vision/architecture, and plan and implement execution strategy and own technical deliverables

- Strong interpersonal relationship skills, solution-led selling techniques, and the ability to reason through complex customer issues.

- Participates in customer engagement planning and supporting sales efforts.

- Reviews and influences existing customer strategic goals and stakeholder alignment.

- Collects, analyses and prioritizes requirements with the customer for a given initiative.

- Displays business acumen and the ability to link solutions to customer business goals, strategies and processes.

- Drives Quality Assurance audits for the technical aspects of the engagement/project

- This person should act as the technical project lead, assist Project Managers in the creation of technical project plans and direct resources with a project manager to complete implementation and design tasks. Must be able to articulate technical and personnel requirements and assist in resource planning and SOW tasks.

- Excellent communication and teaming skills, with a record of technical leadership.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

Prior technical experience with HPC architecture components, preferably in a HPC lab is a must.

Mandatory skills:

Operating Systems

- In-depth Linux skills in clustered environments, systems debugging and problem triage. 

- Comfortable with standard distro’s (Suse, Rhat, debian, centos)

- Kernel management downloading and compiling from source, patching kernels, building modules, loading/unloading modules, kernel parameter tuning and monitoring

Cluster Management

- Cluster troubleshooting/triage

- Hardware management ILOM, IPMI

- OS Management PXE, kickstart, yum, building rpms, OneSIS, CAP

- Comfortable with standard distro’s (Suse, Rhat, debian, centos)

- Complete Cluster Stacks Sun HPC Stack, ROCKS, Oscar

- Monitoring Nagios, Cacti, Ganglia, xVM Ops Center Manager

General networking skills 

- Traditional Interconnects Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, 10Gbit Ethernet, Routing, Switching, Layer 1-7 Understanding

- Subnet Managers SunSM, OpenSM, CiscoSM, Host based

- High Speed/Low Latency Interconnects Infiniband, Myrinet, Quadrics, Magnum

IP network design

System Architecture: 

- PCI-E Gen1/2, Performance and Bandwidth, Hyper Transport, Front-Side Bus, Express Modules, NEM, FEM

Storage Architectures: 

- SAN, NAS, FC, DAS, SCSI, iSCSI, FcoIP, 

- Filesystem experience (Regular) NFS v4, SAM/QFS

- Filesystem experience (Global/Cluster) Lustre, PanFS, GPFS

- ILM/Data management

Application Profiling, Characterization and Tuning 

- MPI, OpenMPI, MVAPICH, etc

- Debugging Totalview, dtrace, XMPI

Processor Technologies: multi-core, CMT, memory bandwidth and latency

Memory Technologies: FB-DIMMs, DDR2, DDR3

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

- Provide coaching or mentoring HPC Consultants and Engineers to facilitate and expedite knowledge transfer. 

- remote information sharing and IP capture and provide linkages between the Global Sales HPC communities , Product Engineering and the 12 geographies WW.
