Amazon’s Merchant Services Group is seeking exemplary software development engineers with broad technical skills to help us develop internal productivity tools and new features for the entire seller community. As a member of this team you will employ object oriented techniques in Java and leverage strong data modeling and RDBMS skills to help us design and deliver Amazon’s next generation of seller success tools. You will research and drive implementation of tools for automated classification of items, validation of seller data and qualitative analysis of seller listings. Besides you will define and improve processes and optimize internal workflows. Along the way you’ll gain and leverage a unique understanding of how Amazon.com works; from software systems that are mission critical for sales operations, to the details of our business model, and the relationships we’re establishing with an ever-growing network of sellers who depend on Amazon.com to run their online stores.

Successful members of this team collaborate effectively with internal end-users, aggressive cross-functional software development teams, and technical support/sustaining engineering teams to solve problems, implement new demand generation solutions, and deliver successfully against high operational standards of system availability and reliability. Responsibilities

Develop productivity improvement tools for internal and external parties
Enhance and maintain existing applications to reduce listing friction to the seller community.

Correcting and enhancing existing content of products that have high visibility on the Amazon website but show poor content
Gathering requirements and helping to build the tools and processes to increase the ease and efficiency with which sellers integrate with Amazon.

Qualifications

BS degree in Computer Science and 0 to 4.5 years of industry experience developing large scale distributed software systems

Solid proficiency with an Object Oriented language (Java, C++)

Experience with any/all of the following preferred: RDBMS scaling challenges, data modeling, XML processing, Webservices (SOAP, REST), Web crawling, data mining, machine learning, distributed systems

Excellent communication skills in written and oral English with the ability to face internal partners in a professional and mature manner.
